Foot and Ankle Injuries
These are amongst the most common injuries we see at our clinic.
Injury to the lateral ligaments (in particular the anterior talofibular and calcaneofibular ligaments) are the most common sporting injury, and if managed properly should result in a full recovery. In fact sprained ankles or sprained lateral ligaments comprise about 20% of all sporting injuries.
Treatment will vary in accordance with the exact type and degree of the disorder, as well as the needs of the patient and may include:
- Corrective exercise
- Massage and stretching
- Orthotics – we prescribe customised orthotics
- Support braces and tape
- Support boots or cam boots (cam walkers)
