Owen James

OwenJames22Owen joined the team after completing his undergraduate studies at the University of Newcastle in 2016. Whist at university Owen gained extra experience working as a sports trainer with a local soccer team and attending a local rugby team training sessions. In his last year of university he was exposed to a variety of unique placements that included working in an emergency department where he gained experience in the assessment and management of acute soft tissue injuries and fractures. He also had a placement at a chronic pain service where he learned the importance of a holistic treatment approach that treats the individual as a whole.

Owen comes from a sporting background playing AFL for a local team and playing in Newcastle and Northern NSW representative AFL teams. He has also has played many other ball sports growing up including cricket, basketball and tennis.


What is it that you enjoy about working at Advanced Physio?

Working in a clinic that has by far the best facilities available in the region that allows to me provide the best possible treatments available to help clients meet and exceed their desired goals. Also I enjoy working with a team of highly skilled and passionate physiotherapists that are always working on improving their skills and knowledge.

What conditions or people do you have a special interest in?

From December 2016 to January 2017 I completed 200 hours of training in orthopaedic excellence through the global education program provided by Medbridge.

I enjoy treating all areas of the body but have a particular interest in treating injuries of the lower limb that includes sporting type injuries, tendon injuries and osteoarthritis of the knee and hip.

What are your extracurricular passions?

You will usually find me in my spare time enjoying the outdoors either at the beach, kayaking or bike riding. I also like to keep fit by going to the gym and running.
